Private BitTorrent Tracker Hacked, Passwords Leaked By Afghani Hackers

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><h2 style="text-align: center;">Private BitTorrent Tracker Hacked, Passwords Leaked By Afghani Hackers</h2><div><img alt="Private BitTorrent Tracker Hacked, Passwords Leaked By Afghani Hackers" src="http://cdn.ientry.com/sites/webpronews/pictures/revolutiontt_320x245.jpg" /> </div><div><div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px;">Hackers generally view BitTorrent trackers as friendly entities. Members of Anonymous are constantly extolling the virtues of The Pirate Bay and other trackers. Some hackers, however, are proving to be not as friendly.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px;">It was <a href="http://torrentinvites.org/f31/revolutiontt-me-revtt-database-hacked-afghanistan-hackers-46268/" style="border: 0px; color: #0068d2; cursor: pointer; font-family: inherit; font-style: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">revealed this morning</a> that RevolutionTT, a private BitTorrent tracker, had been hacked. A group simply calling themselves “Afghanistan Hackers” uploaded a text file containing 19,000 username/password combinations for the exclusive torrent tracker. They encourage people to log in to private accounts, change the password, and enjoy the site for themselves.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px;"><a href="https://torrentfreak.com/hackers-leak-38000-passwords-from-large-private-bittorrent-tracker-120919/" style="border: 0px; color: #0068d2; cursor: pointer; font-family: inherit; font-style: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">TorrentFreak</a> reports that the information leaked in the document is real. People have been using the username/password combinations to log into paid accounts. From there, people began to send fraudulent emails from the hacked accounts, or began looking to see if the same usernames or passwords had been used on other sites.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px;">It’s already strange to see a torrent tracker get hacked, but the response has been even stranger. The admins at RevolutionTT are claiming they were not hacked. They have even started to ban members who are asking legitimate questions about the hack.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px;">Regardless, old and current members of RevolutionTT are encouraged to change their passwords now. These kind of attacks can have ripple effects across the Internet. A victim on one site can find that all of their accounts across the Internet have been hacked simply because they used the same password across all of them.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px;">There is a sliver of good news in all of this. The data leaked by the hackers may be an old dataset. Some of the usernames/passwords combinations work, but others do not. The hackers say they will release more information in the next few weeks though. The next batch could be more recent datasets that could cause even more harm.</div><div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px;">A hack of this level is nothing new. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the kind of world we live in now. The significance of this particular attack shows that nothing is sacred. Hackers aren’t drawing lines anymore, and they will attack anything that has the potential for profit or chaos. The group here has obviously obtained the latter, and they may just obtain the former if the information from RevolutionTT proves to be useful.</div></div></div>

Responding to a query, the spokesperson said, "In connection with recent events we would like to reiterate that India has always strongly condemned all acts that disparage religious beliefs and hurt religious sentiments."</div><div>Earlier the search engine giant Google refused to accept their proposal of removing the controversial anti-Islam movie. White House officials earlier had asked Google to reconsider whether the video had violated YouTube's terms of service. Reacting against US' proposal, Google on Saturday, Sep 15 said, "We've restricted access to it in countries where it is illegal such as India and Indonesia, as well as in Libya and Egypt, given the very sensitive situations in these two countries," and also added, "This approach is entirely consistent with principles we first laid out in 2007."</div><div>The movie criticised Prophet Muhammed calling him "fraud" and "philanderer". Movie clips on YouTube ignited anti-Americans protest followed by a deadly violence in Middle-East countries. The protest against the movie and the Americans became fatal when US Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens along with many others was killed in an attack.</div></div></div>

Cyber Crime Biggest Challenge To Cops, Nation

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Cyber Crime Biggest Challenge To Cops, Nation</b></span><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span> <img src="http://www.peakpositions.com/images/spanish-cops-nab-hackers.jpg" /> <br /><span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span> <br /><span style="font-size: x-small;">Cyber crime holds no boundaries. Unlike other crimes, it is not necessary for the criminal to be close to the victim. The crime can take place in any part of the world and can affect an individual in a different country, said IGP (Western Range) Pratap Reddy.</span><br /><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span> <span style="font-size: x-small;">He was speaking after inaugurating a UGC sponsored State-level seminar on 'Cyber Crime,' organised by School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya in Mangalore on Friday.</span><br /><span style="font-size: x-small;">The police force faces a biggest challenge when a cyber criminal has committed a crime from a different country. Each country has their own law and many prohibit collection of evidence.</span><br /><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span> <span style="font-size: x-small;">The organised criminals make use of this weakness and plan the crime from different parts of the world, he said.  </span><br /><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span> <span style="font-size: x-small;">"Technology being updated everyday is another main challenge. The IT Act introduced in 2000 was amended in 2008. However, in eight years technology had changed drastically and since 2008 till date even more innovations have been added," said Reddy and added that every company is in a race to introduce a better product that they do not see if the government is updated to handle to crime that may be caused due to the technology.</span><br /><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span> <span style="font-size: x-small;">Today it is very easy to obtain personal data, as we ourselves share information in many instances such as ordering a pizza, booking things online, downloading softwares. The 2011 research reports highlight new advanced threats and an increased of sophistication in the attacks. </span><br /><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span> <span style="font-size: x-small;">India is projected to be the third largest internet user base in the world in 2013 with over 120 million internet users in India. Electronic payments in India account for 35.3 per cent of the local transactions in terms of volume and 88.3 per cent in terms of value. India has also the world's second largest mobile phone user base with 894 million users as on December 2011.</span><br /><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span> <span style="font-size: x-small;">However, the NCRB Cyber Crime Statistics reveal that 1791 cyber crime cases are registered under the IT Act 2008. The Google-Inc. video site took the unusual step Wednesday of publicly commenting on the video, a practice it typically eschews.<br />       "We work hard to create a community everyone can enjoy and which also enables people to express different opinions,'' YouTube said in a statement. "This can be a challenge because what's OK in one country can be offensive elsewhere. This video which is widely available on the web is clearly within our guidelines and so will stay on YouTube. However, given the very difficult situation in Libya and Egypt we have temporarily restricted access in both countries. Our hearts are with the families of the people murdered in yesterday's attack in Libya.''<br />       The video was uploaded on July 2 by a YouTube user going by the name Sam Bacile. After sitting dormant and largely unwatched for two months, it was dubbed into Arabic and excerpts gained airplay on TV networks in Egypt, enraging ultraconservative viewers.<br />       President Barack Obama on Wednesday condemned the attack in Benghazi and ordered increased security to protect American diplomatic personnel around the world. He pledged to ``bring justice to the killers who attacked our people.''<br />       "We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others,'' said Obama. ``But there is absolutely no justification for this type of senseless violence, none.'' </div></div></div>
